Wetzel Family Syrah, Alexander Valley, 2007

Estate grown and bottled. Wetzel Family estate. This Alexander Valley Syrah displays intense color, depth and character, attributes inherent in the Syrah grape itself, but also augmented by the ideal growing conditions of the valley. Long, warm summer days and cool evenings produce ripe, balanced grapes, the single most important component of this wine. A small amount of Viognier adds to the complexity of the wine, especially the aroma. Barrel aging for fourteen months in French and American oak integrates beautifully with the violet, blueberry and spiciness of this classic Rhone variety. The Alexander Valley yields distinctive grapes and wines recognized worldwide. Our property resides on the homestead of pioneer Cyrus Alexander, for whom the valley is named. We produce delicious estate grown wines, rich in varietal character. Alcohol 14.0% by volume.
